TRANSFORMATIVE SOLUTIONS IN EDUCATION

MICHELE P. BROOKS, M.ED. - PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT

Michele P. Brooks, M.Ed

Michele P. Brooks is a parent activist, educational advocate and educator.  She currently serves as the Principal Consultant for Transformative Solutions in Education. In her former role, she served as Assistant Superintendent in the Boston Public Schools, with specific oversight of family, student and community engagement through the BPS Office of Engagement. She has over twenty-five years of organizational development experience working with both non-profits and public institutions. She has successfully developed and implemented a framework that strategically aligned engagement capacity building efforts to the core academic priorities and direction of BPS. In 2013, Ms. Brooks was named one of fifteen nationally recognized “Leaders to Learn From” by Education Week Magazine. 
In addition to serving as a member of the Boston School Committee for four years, Ms. Brooks was also the Founding Director of the Boston Parent Organizing Network, which focused on building a city-wide coalition of parent and community organizing groups focused on the improvement of the Boston Public Schools. She successfully led the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic direction and plan during her tenure as director. Other endeavors include; program implementation/evaluation and technical assistance for Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Sacramento Board of Education CA, Alaska Association of School Boards AK and currently serves as the lead consultant for family and community engagement with Institute for Educational Leadership in Washington DC.
